Our Goals

Learn about our goals

At the Etobicoke Brighter Futures Coalition, our shared goals are the foundation of our work together.  They keep us focused, accountable and united in our mission to support children and families through our collaborative coalition.

At the Etobicoke Brighter Futures Coalition, our main goals are:

  • To increase collaboration and service coordination by sharing the responsibility for planning and program delivery among a diverse team of agencies.

  • To offer general prevention programs for the community as well as special programs for children and families living in high-risk situations.

  • To offer services and programs that are accessible, culturally appropriate and meet the diverse needs of all children and families in our community.

  • To increase outreach to isolated families and communities.

  • To share knowledge, skills, and resources among members, particularly in the areas of best or promising practices, and to provide training opportunities for staff who work directly with children and families.

  • To engage in an on-going quality improvement process.

“Great team dynamics - everyone is united for a common goal, and everyone is willing to go the extra mile to ensure we meet our goal.”

Our Principles

Get to know the principles that drive us

Our principles are the beliefs and values which guide the decision-making and priorities of the Etobicoke Brighter Futures Coalition. Our principles ensure that all members of the Etobicoke Brighter Futures Coalition work together to have a positive impact on our community.

These are the key principles that guide our work:

Etobicoke Wide

There are local differences in the needs of the population throughout Etobicoke. EBFC distributes resources and delivers services across Etobicoke in a fair and equitable manner.

Young Children In The Context of Their Families

We deliver programs and services that support the healthy development of young children ages 0-6, in the natural context of their family and community, with a particular emphasis on children living in conditions of risk.

Working in Partnerships

Member agencies work together and share information, skills, and resources to accomplish common goals in the community.

Community Involvement

Member agencies engage program participants in planning, evaluation, and outreach to ensure that EBFC programs are appropriate, supportive and easy to access. This community engagement framework supports the development of strong, healthy neighbourhoods.

Planning

The Coalition is committed to planning at the local and systemic levels and participates in networks and planning initiatives for children and families in our community.
